Application of LED heat sink

Date:2024-04-12

A heat sink is a device that dissipates heat through thermally conductive materials and heat sinks. Its function is to quickly conduct a large amount of heat generated by the LED to the heat sink, and then dissipate the heat into the air through the heat sink fins to achieve the purpose of heat dissipation.Keep the temperature of the chip within the required range to ensure that the LED light can work normally. The quality of the heat sink mainly depends on the thermal resistance of the heat sink. The smaller the thermal resistance, the lower the LED junction temperature under the same conditions, and the longer the service life of the chip.
According to different LED lamp designs and needs, heat sinks also have different types and applications:
1. Air-cooled heat sink: uses a cooling fan to dissipate heat through the flow of wind.Suitable for LED lamps with large heat.
2.Heat dissipation plate:The heat is conducted to the heat sink through the thermally conductive material and then dissipated into the air.Commonly used in high-power LED lamps.
3. Heat pipe: The heat is conducted to the heat sink fins through the heat pipe, and the heat is dissipated into the air through the heat sink fins.Suitable for compact lighting design.
4. Surface heat sink: By installing the heat sink directly on the surface of the LED chip, the heat is dissipated into the air.Suitable for some low-power, small-size LED lamps.
China's top-quality Extrusion Heatsink, LED Heatsinks Design manufacturer, Up to 70% of the energy utilised by an LED is converted into heat rather than light. This makes it paramount that the LED junction temperate and those of the surrounding components operate within manufacturer recommended limits, minimising running costs and maximising product longevity.Pioneer Thermal can design LED heatsink based on customer's requirement, then build LED heatsink prototype to production. Most LED heatsink are made by extrusion, cold forging and die cast process.
